Bridges
Let our WisDOT LRFD certified bridge
engineer assist you with your next bridge project. If you
are rehabilitating your bridge to increase its useful life
or replacing it to increase safety, we can help evaluate the
best solution to meet your expectations.
The Thoroughfare Road Bridge spans the channel
between Mid Lake and Lake Tomahawk in the Town of Minocqua. The existing bridge was replaced with one designed to blend
with the natural aesthetics of the Northwoods. To fulfill
this goal the Becher Hoppe team and the Town of Minocqua
selected a concrete structure with formliner treatment and
timber railings. These cost-effective materials exceeded the
communities visual design expectations.
To better accommodate seasonal boat traffic through the
Minocqua Chain of Lakes, the bottom of the bridge deck was
constructed four feet higher than the old bridge. The extra
clearance eliminated the need to lower canopies on pontoon
boats before passing beneath the bridge. |
