CTH G

CTH G -

CTH G in Forest County is a rural 2-lane major collector connecting the Town of Argonne and Cavour and provides a major trucking route between STH 32/STH 55 and USH 8.  The existing bituminous asphalt pavement was exhibiting all forms of deterioration including longitudinal, transverse, and alligator cracking along with rutting in the wheel paths.  Furthermore, the expansion of the logging industry in the vicinity lead to an increase in truck traffic from 7.1% in 2009 to 19.5% in 2016.  Truck traffic contributes significantly more to pavement structure damage than passenger cars.  Becher Hoppe was contracted by Forest County and The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to provide preliminary through final design engineering for a pavement replacement project including pulverize and relay, HMA pavement, intersection improvements, traffic control detour plan, pavement marking, and permanent signing.  The project also included a new single span slab bridge structure to replace deteriorating culverts and enhance the health of the Peshtigo River.  Construction of the project was completed in Fall 2019
