Summer Survey Internship

Job Responsibilities

Becher Hoppe is seeking a Survey Intern for the Summer of 2025, to provide outstanding service to our clients and internal project teams. There’s a list of qualifications below, but equally important is finding someone with high integrity and a great work ethic and who is a good fit with our company culture.

Assists survey crew chief to collect topo field data for planning and design, and provides construction staking for street, utility and airport projects. Will learn to set-up and use a variety of survey equipment including Trimble Total Stations, GPS units, and data collectors, along with manual and electronic levels. Responsibilities will also include using Autodesk Civil 3D and Trimble Business Center to prepare construction staking information and develop existing terrain models and topography drawings of existing conditions. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications and Requirements

•      Prior survey and construction experience helpful but not required

•      Leadership, planning, and creative problem solving

•      Solid communication skills, with a sense of humor

•      A team player

•      Passion for technology and its implementation

•      Resourceful problem solver focused on accuracy and attention to detail

•      Familiar with robotic total station, GPS equipment, and AutoCAD Civil 3D helpful but not required

•      Familiar with Microsoft Office products helpful

•      Ability to regularly lift/carry up to 30 pounds of equipment, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds

•      Ability to pound wooden lathe/stake into ground/base course with 3- to 10-pound maul

•      Valid driver’s license
