Wausau Downtown Airport’s existing hangar areas had reached capacity, and the demand for private hangars continues to grow.  Planning, design, and construction services for a new greenfield hangar development area east of the terminal were completed by Becher-Hoppe Associates. The first phase of the hangar area was constructed from fall of 2017 to summer of 2018, and provides sites for up to twelve hangars. Construction included site grading, taxiway, taxilane, and access road pavements; reconstruction of the Airport’s parking lot and sidewalks; a new motorized vehicle access gate, and extension of water, sewer, and electrical utilities.
